The story of the Old-Style Siamese began hundreds of years ago in the ancient Kingdom of Siam, now known as Thailand. Among the country's oldest treasures were elegant blue-eyed cats admired for their beauty, intelligence, and loyal nature. Historical manuscripts known as Tamra Maew ("The Cat Book Poems"), dating back several centuries, describe cats that closely resemble today's traditional Siamese.

For generations, these remarkable cats were associated with Thai royalty, respected families, and Buddhist temples. Their graceful appearance and affectionate personalities made them one of the most treasured breeds in Southeast Asia.
In the late 19th century, the Siamese cat was introduced to Europe and later to the United States. Cat lovers were captivated by its striking blue eyes, color-point coat, and outgoing personality. As the breed's popularity grew throughout the 20th century, breeding preferences gradually changed. A more extreme, modern Siamese type—with a longer, slimmer body, larger ears, and a sharper wedge-shaped head—became increasingly common in the show world.

At the same time, dedicated breeders chose to preserve the original look of the breed. Their efforts gave rise to what is now known as the Old-Style Siamese—cats with a balanced body, gently rounded features, expressive sapphire-blue eyes, and the affectionate temperament that made the breed famous centuries ago.
